George D. Murphey of Galveston, (not shown) failed to get a second to his motion that Republicans select nominees for public office in a primary this year but a resolution, read by Carlos G. Watson, right, of Brownsville, secretary of the state Republican executive committee, calling for selection of nominees by convention as usual was passed unanimously by the committee.
