Description
Sprinters in the 440-yard relay at the Southwest Conference track meet make the final baton exchange a smooth operation as the anchor men take over and head for the stretch. Left to right are D. L. Yoder, Arkansas; Jim Brownhill, Texas; Charles Thomas, Texas ; James Heflin, Rice; Buddy Goode, Southern Methodist University, and Bill Stalter, Texas A&M. The Longhorns won the event in a tight finish, with Southern Methodist University second and the Rice Owls third. The winning time was 41.0. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition May 11, 1952.
