Captain Gene Schmidt, center, and Coach Buster Brannon, right, display trophies awarded them at TCU's first annual basketball banquet. Schmidt voted most valuable player, is receiving the Sumner award from its donor, Dr. Wendell Sumner. Brannon was honored as the Southwest Conference coach of the year. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition March 23, 1950.
