Dr. Mortimer Brown, superintendent of the Tyler schools, one of the men responsible for the establishment of the unique school camp, holds a ceremonial bowl of earth in front of a camp building fireplace. The fire screens were made by metal working students. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition May 7, 1950.
