Ava Lee Weaks, seated, winner of the first prize in the Star-Telegram's scholastic writing contest, shares her pleasure with her teacher, Mrs. W. B. Parks. The Underground Finger-Flight Champion portable typewriter was won with a short story in a contest sponsored nationally by Scholastic Magazines. Ava Lee is a senior at Glen Rose High School and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Weaks. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition March 15, 1952.
