College class quarter milers dig in as they enter the stretch of their thrilling race. Left to right are Buddy Garner (fourth), ACC; Charles Buchanan, East Texas; Parkey Hitt, Howard Payne; Bob Keck (winner), Oklahoma Baptist; Jack Chubb, McMurry; Sam Volpe (second), ACC; and Walt Lindsey (third), North Texas State. Keck's time in the narrow victory was 50.3 seconds. The quarter-milers remained in their respective lanes all the way. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition March 16, 1952.
