Collier Parris, left, and Bruce Layer, regional Golden Gloves directors here for the 16th annual state tournament, were among those who started the program in 1937. Parris is sports editor of the Abilene Reporter-News. Layer is sports announcer for Radio-TV Station KPRC in Houston. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition February 12, 1952.
