Description

The Baylor Bears are opening their college football season at Municipal Stadium in Waco, Texas. They are hosting the visiting Hardin-Simmons Cowboys. Attending the game, left to right, are J. L. Bass and Miss Mildred Caldwell. Mr. Bass, is visiting from Washington D. C. He is dressed in a fedora hat, a light-colored button down shirt, a paisley tie, and a single-breasted suit. Miss Caldwell is a resident of Abilene, Texas, and is in Waco to cheer on the Cowboys. She is wearing a felt hat and a solid-color dress with a button front bodice over a pleated skirt. She has an elaborate pin with a watch pinned to the pocket on her bodice, and is wearing a slip and silk stockings. The pair are sitting on a blanket and pillows. Behind them is a man in a tweed-looking suit with a striped light-color shirt and a diagonal tie, with a hat and pens in his jacket pocket. On the aisle behind and beside Ms. Caldwell is a man in a light shirt, dark pants, and a pair of western boots. Baylor went on to win the game 24-0. Published Star-Telegram Morn. Sep. 29, 1941.
