The Baylor Bears are opening their college football season at Municipal Stadium in Waco, Texas. They are hosting the visiting Hardin-Simmons Cowboys. Attending the game, left to right, are Mrs. Gib Sandefer, G. P. Jones, Mrs. Marion McClure and Mr. Marion McClure. Mrs. Sandefer is the wife of the Hardin-Simmons Cowboy Band manager. She is wearing a hat with a small brim topped with dark netting, a short-sleeved dark dress with a yoke and pleated bodice, a stylized figure in a pin on her bodice, wedding rings, and has a blanket across her lap. Mr. Jones is a rancher in Maryneal, Texas. He is dressed in a hat and a striped light-color dress shirt, a plaid tie with a tie tack, rimless eyeglasses, pens and a mechanical pencil in his pocket, dark dress slacks, and a stitched leather box at his feet. Mrs. McClure is wearing a medium-brimmed hat, a button-up blouse, a skirt, a slip, and silk stockings, the very top of which peeks through under her skirt. She is holding a pair of sunglasses and has a cloth handbag on her lap. Mr. McClure is the director of the Cowboy Band. He is dressed in a light-colored shirt, and patterned tie, rimless eyeglasses, a wrist watch, and striped suit pants. His suit jacket is draped across his lap. Baylor won the contest 24-0. In the background behind the four appear to be at least two boy scouts in uniform standing and watching. Published Star-Telegram Morn. Sep. 29, 1941.
