Description
Lipscomb Norvell is an oil man from Fort Worth, Texas. He is being appointed to the general arrangements committee in charge of the Spindletop Anniversary Convention. Spindletop is an oil field in Beaumont, Texas. The Texas Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association is holding the convention to commemorate the discovery of Spindletop 40 years earlier. Mr. Norvell's father was the founder of the Lone Acre Oil Company and one of the first operators at Spindletop. Mr. Norvell is shown in a portrait photograph, dressed in a three piece suit. There is an "Order for Cut - Editorial Department" paper slip clipped to the photograph.
