Description
Sergeant Vernon Wood is serving with the United States Army in the 37th Infantry. He is stationed in Hawaii and is in Fort Worth, Texas, on a furlough. Sergeant Wood is better known as "Red," the star fullback on the 1936 Arlington Heights football team. While in the Army, he still plays football regularly against other service teams. He hopes to continue his football career after military service. At six feet tall and 190 pounds, the 21-year-old plans to play end in college. Sergeant Wood is standing against a wall, dressed in his military uniform.
