Description
Posters reminding scrap dealers that they must not "sell or deliver aluminum scrap to anyone except authorized secondary smelters or foundries granted preference rating," were placed in offices of Fort Worth, Texas, dealers by City Detective Paul Jones, shown nailing up one of the notices to a bulletin board. The posters ask the dealers to ship the scrap to authorized plants immediately for use in the national defense program. Detective Jones is wearing a suit and a hat and is holding a hammer. The notice reads: "To All Scrap Dealers By order of the Office of Production Management, Washington, D. C., no scrap dealer may either sell or deliver aluminum scrap to anyone except authorized secondary smelters or foundries granted a specific OPM preference rating. This order (M-1-c), issued June 10, 1941, by the Director of Priorities, is intended to direct the flow of scrap aluminum solely to defense industries. Help your country's defense program. Do not hold your scrap. Collect it and ship it as promptly as possible to authorized smelters or foundries. Your country needs aluminum scrap!"
