Description

Mrs. J. E. Smith is holding what she believes to be the city's oldest Valentine. It is an invitation to a Saint Valentine's Ball, which she received as an eighteen-year-old girl in February, 1878. Mrs. Smith is reclining on a wicker chair, wearing a button-up printed dress and a crochet shawl over her shoulders. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, February 12, 1940.
