Description
The cover for the first day issue of the new 6-cent Air Mail stamp from Washington, D. C., which was sponsored by the Fleetwood Cover Service of Mount Vernon, New York. The cover was designed by L. W. Staehle, of New York City, New York. The 6-cent is the first of six new air mails to be issued by the Post Office Department. Part of the design features an airplane, along with the American flag, the Alaskan flag, and the Canadian flag.
