Cowboys and rodeo fans came from miles around in West Texas and New Mexico to witness the Carlsbad Rodeo steer roping contest in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Here is a section of the crowd massed around the arena. Most people in the crowd are wearing cowboy hats. In the center of the crowd is an elevated wooden platform. There are flood lights in the background.
