Description
Fort Worth Art Association's Children's Show winning entry in the 15-18 age group is "Where the West Begins," a wax crayon drawing by Russell Byther. In the drawing a young couple is striding forward while a number of Fort Worth and West-related items appear in the background. They include oil derricks, books, cacti, produce, cattle, musical instruments, painting tools, fields, an airplane, city skyscrapers, a water tower, Fort Worth's First United Methodist Church and an unidentified large building. This photograph was published in the May 2, 1941 evening edition of the Star-Telegram.
