Description
Heavy drilling program in the recently opened Abell Pool in Northern Pecos County has brought renewed activity for that part of the Permian Basin. One new town site, Abell city, has been opened and Imperial is enjoying a boom. As see in this picture, there is a group around the Phillips Petroleum Company Number 1 Silverman; left to right, R. J. Chadwell, Ben Gilliam, driller; Glen Whitman, tool pusher; V. M. Spratt, lease foreman, and A. W. Gibson. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram, morning edition, April 6, 1941.
