Description

Mrs. Rebecca Vowles of Treharris, Wales, came to Fort Worth, Texas, for a visit in July, 1939. The war and disruption of transatlantic passenger service have it made impossible for her to return to her children and grandchildren. She is sewing at the British War Relief Society headquarters in the Neil P. Anderson Building. Mrs. Vowles is sitting at a sewing machine. She has on a flower pattern dress with a collar and buttons running down the front. Around the room are two chalkboards, more sewing machines, an ironing board, and a table with sewing supplies.
