Morris Carona, veteran state Golden Gloves champion from Beaumont, Texas, writing a letter home before he competes in the state meet at Fort Worth, Texas. Carona represented Texas in the finals of the national Golden Gloves meet in Chicago, Illinois, in 1940, and lost to Savior Canadeo. He is sitting at a desk and looking at the camera. On the desk are pieces of paper and a pencil. Attached to the desk is a lamp. Carona is wearing a striped button-down shirt, trousers and a sweater-vest.
