Description
Camp Barkeley is being constructed in Abilene, Texas to train the 45th Infantry Division of the United States Army. Building crews are working quickly to make the camp ready for the March opening. Visiting the camp to inspect the progress are left to right, Colonel James C. Styron, Lieutenant Colonel Jess Larson, Lieutenant Colonel Charles McKemp and Major Henry A. Harding. They are shown inspecting camp Barkeley's 60,000 acre artillery firing range. Colonel Styron is the division chief of staff at Fort Sill. Colonel Larson is an executive officer with the 70th Field Artillery, 45th Division. Colonel McKemp is the temporary executive officer at Camp Barkeley. Major Harding is assigned from Eight Corps Area headquarters to assist in preparing aids. All four men are dressed in their military uniforms. They are standing in front of a parked automobile.
