Description

Air view of Lake Worth. Lake Worth itself fell under a blanket of snow as Winter made a strange and dazzling wonderland of all the nearby countryside. Ice had formed over all the northern portions of the lake and well beyond the Northwest Highway bridge in the severe and lasting cold that preceded the snow. When the flakes fell, they covered icy surfaces of the lake and left a scenic spectacle such as Fort Worth had never seen before. Not in 10 years has it been cold enough and lasting to freeze over Lake Worth. In the center right just off the bridge is Lake Worth Casino covered in snow. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram, morning edition, January 23, 1940.
