Description
"Smitty" Thane is an organist at the Blackstone Hotel. She was born Gladys Smith to Reverend Woodie W. Smith, a Baptist minister and composer. Smitty began studying music when she was six years old. She later went to Kansas City, Missouri, to study under Professor Hans S. Feil before attending the Chicago Musical College at Chicago, Illinois. Smitty has played for the radio and in music halls. She is married to Scotsman and recent American citizen, Hugh Sutherland Thane. The couple moved to Fort Worth, Texas, several months ago. Smitty is shown standing against a wall, wearing a dress and a necklace.
