Description
F. E. Alvord, 80, pioneer rancher. He has been ranching for 50 years, seeing changes from riding old trails to driving on modern paved highways. He remains active although he sold his ranch interest near Portales, New Mexico in 1925 so that he could move to Canyon, Texas where two of his daughters were educated at West Texas State Teachers College. The last time he was on a horse was four years ago when he was vising relatives in Callahan County. He shown wearing a coat and tie, hat and eyeglasses. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, December 2, 1940.
