Masonic Home versus Polytechnic High School football game. Hardy Brown, Masonic Home, with the ball. J. O. Strahan from Polytechnic being blocked by Basel Smith of Masonic Home. Dewitt Coulter, Mason guard at Brown's right. Orville Lyles is the Polytechnic Parrot trying to push through. It wasn't often that the Masons' plays worked as well as this in their Thursday afternoon game with Poly, but they worked often enough to mark up a 7 to 6 victory that clinched the District 7AA title for the Masonic Home. This shot is of Hardy Brown driving off right tackle for five yards in the third quarter. That upsy-daisy block on Poly's left end, J. O. Strahan, is being administered by 130 pound Basel Smith. The big fellow bumping the tackle (Orville Lyles) just ahead of the ball carrier is Dewitt Coulter. That's Reese Moeller coming up in the rear. Star-Telegram Evening November 22, 1940
