Description
The Goodfellows are getting ready for Christmas. Mrs. Hazel S. Rounds, left, and Mrs. Esther W. Laubenheim, visiting area families. Poverty was seen first hand by members of the Business and Professional Women's Club, which will conduct the annual Goodfellows Ball at Hotel Texas Nov. 25. The group visited the homes to those who rely on the Star-Telegram Goodfellows Fund to brighten their Christmas and came away determined to make their 100 percent Goodfellows benefit an outstanding success. Pictured are two of the clubwomen, Mrs. Hazel S. Rounds (left), and Mrs. Esther W. Laubenheim, with one of the children who received a Goodfellow package last year and is hoping for another. Shoes provided last year now are worn out and her only plaything is the mongrel she holds in her lap. Pictured are two women, a young girl, and a dog. The elegantly dressed women are wearing fur stoles, hats, dresses, and gloves. They are standing behind the young girl. The girl is dressed in ragged clothing and tattered shoes. She is unkempt and her hair is not brushed. She is sitting on a wooden crate and holding a small dog in her lap. Published Fort Worth Star-Telegram Evening Edition November 14, 1940.
