Description
World's first rotary rig has been rigged up at the southwest corner of Fifth and Jones Streets for the "spudding in" of the Texas Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association's annual convention. Looking over the old rotary, used at Corsicana in October, 1895, for the first of the first commercial production there, left to right, are: Ed Rittsbacher, Corsicana, Texas; P. R. Bond, Fort Worth, Texas; Arch Rowan, Fort Worth, Texas; and Ed Baty, Fort Worth, Texas. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, October 31, 1940.
