Miss Betty Jean Shoemaker is a nineteen-year-old student at Texas Christian University. She has an interest in flying, so she enrolled in the Civil Aeronautics Authority class. She is shown examining a model plane and learning how the controls are operated. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. T. J. W. Shoemaker. Betty Jean is wearing a blouse, sweater, and a plaid skirt. In the background of the classroom are other equipment. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, October 11, 1940.
