Description
Ensign Carter Murphy of Fort Worth, Texas, is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe P. Murphy, of 3033 College. Photograph of Murphy wearing his military dress uniform with ribbon bar and a star and stripe on both sleeves. He is shown standing against a bare wall, facing front and smiling for the camera. As a naval gunfire liaison officer, however, he served with the doughboys who hit the Normandy beach on D-Day in France. He entered service in August, 1943. He is a 1939 graduate of Arlington Heights High School, attended Texas Christian University (TCU) and was graduated from North Texas State Technical College (NTSTC) in Denton. Published in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, September 28, 1944.
