Description
784th Railway Operating Battalion. Group of soldiers working on railroad near Odessa on T and P. The men standing on the railway tracks and nearby, each has a shovel or a pitchfork in hand as they dig through the gravel. The battalion under commanding officer Lt. Col Alva C. Ogg, arrived a few weeks ago to operate on the T&P line from Fort Worth to El Paso. The battalion is a complete tactical unit with its own adminstration, medical, supply and mess units. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, December 12, 1943.
