    Guardettes. Glen Wilcox teaching Ju-Jitsu to Guardette. Clipping: "Classes in Ju-Jitsu, taught by Mr. Glen Wilcox of the Recreation Department, have started for the Guardettes. Here the instructor is the 'victim' for an arm-breaking demonstration." Stamped: Star-Telegram Morn. Nov. 7, 1943. A pair are standing on a padded tumbling mat. He in gym clothes and tennis shoes, she in the pants version of the Guardette's uniform. We see only the jacket, pants, garrison cap and dark walking shoes of her uniform. Seated around the room are people watching the lesson. Most of the spectators appear to be women, some in street clothes, others in uniforms of the Guardettes. First Texas Defense Guardettes, women's defense unit. Formed in 1942. Group named in "Texas and War: New Interpretations of the State's Military History, Mendoza and Grear. Citation is on page 91, #13.
