Description

Star-Telegram Junior photos. J. Bond Johnson, 17-year-old reporter. "Junior has overlooked a good story for seven months. Pictures of and stories about the comely young women beginning careers on the Third Floor have appeared--but not a word about J. Bond Johnson, who began reporting for The Morning Senior at 16, an age usually reserved for office boys. Bond turned 17 in June and now covers police, which you'll agree is a pretty tough spot for one too young for the draft. A sophomore at Texas Wesleyan College, Bond has paid his own expenses since coming here from Taylor to complete his education. While in high school at Taylor he was a member of the Taylor Daily Press staff. He's the son of a Methodist minister at Taylor. With his early start, abundant energy and enthusiasm, City Editors Kinch and Alexander predict a bright future for the young man. They're sure that if he asks his news sources just one-third as many questions as he does them, Johnson some day will find himself on the Pulitzer prize list." Mr. Johnson is sitting at a desk that is facing towards the right. He is wearing a white long sleeve button up shirt with a collar, dark slacks with a belt, and a tie. He is looking towards the left of the camera, is not smiling, is holding a phone in his left hand that pressed against his left ear, and a pen in his right hand. His right hand is sitting on top of his desk on top of some papers. Also on his desk you can see the base of his rotary phone, and more paperwork. To his left is another chair, and in the background you can see office cabinets, an entry way into another room, and a desk with a globe sitting on top of it.
