Description

Marion Miley, a nationally known golf star, and her mother, Mrs. Fred Miley, were killed on September 28, 1941. They were staying at the Lexington Country Club in Lexington, Kentucky when the robbery-homicide occurred. Two Fort Worth Police detectives were following a lead on another case when they saw a two-toned Buick with Kentucky plates parked outside a beer tavern. On a hunch, the detectives brought the driver and passenger in for questioning. Pictured at the police station, left to right, are Detective Ed Smith, suspect Tom Penney, and Detective Theron Brooks. Mr. Penney is an ex-convict from Fort Worth, Texas. The Fort Worth detectives will question Mr. Penney before turning him over to Lexington, Kentucky, police. Detective Smith is dressed in a striped shirt, necktie, and trousers. Mr. Penney is wearing a polka dot dress shirt with cuffed sleeves, and trousers. Detective Brooks is wearing a dress shirt with cuffed sleeves, necktie, and trousers.
