Description
Shown here is the concealed ambulance at the first aid station of Camp Bowie area. This Medical Detachment Ambulance and first aid station of the 45th was well concealed south of Highway 84 in the Zephyr vicinity. Two hundred yards away, Major General (Maj. Gen.) William S. Key, division commander, was conferring with Colonel (Col.) Kenneth Buchanan of General Headquarters (GHQ) Staff, Washington. The 45th held its positions, but the 36th was forced into a five-mile retreat by the main attacking force of the Reds. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, June 15, 1941.
