Private Leo Devlin, of a searchlight battalion from Camp Hulen, writing a letter to his girlfriend upon arrival in Midland, Texas, with the rest of his battalion. Private Devlin is sitting on a wooden box with a thin plank of wood on his lap to support the letter. Under the plank is a large tin container that he is using to help balance the plank. He is wearing a tank top and a pair of jeans. He is also wearing a necklace. He has a tattoo on his right shoulder and one on his left forearm. He is holding a cigarette in his left hand.
