Description
Joe Gerard, the "Santa" of the Santa Fe, started his annual gift giving trip from the Union Station by presenting Andrew J. Hill, 11, of Galveston his first present of the Yuletide trip that has been a feature of Gerard's work for the past 49 years. Young Hill was invited into the cab of Gerard's locomotive while waiting for the train to take him to Lawton, Oklahoma, where he will visit his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Walser. Mr. Gerard, dressed as Santa, is pulling a bugle out of a box while Mr. Hill sits beside him holding the box open. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, December 24, 1940.
