Description

State Fair Grand Champion Fat Lamb -- Alfred Pool, Nolan County 4-H Club boy, and his grand champion fat lamb of the State Fair of Texas livestock show. This lamb was bred by John Nehrmeyer of Rhome, who was a big winner in the open classes of the show. R. B. Tate, Nolan County farm agent, is shown with young Pool and the wooled champion. Mr. Tate is wearing a small cowboy hat and a suit. Alfred is dressed in a tilted hat, collar shirt, necktie, and trousers. They are crouching beside the lamb. The lamb has the champion ribbon around the neck. Alfred is patting the lamb. There is some hay on the floor. Published in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, October 12 1940.
