Description
Feeders from the Corn Belt States and livestock admirers in general are traveling a long distance to attend the annual Highland Hereford Feeder Cattle Show in Marfa, Texas. The Queen of the fair is Miss Mary Virginia McIntyre. She is shown riding down the street on a parade float with Miss Anne Marie McFarland, left, and Miss Mary Frances Hord. Miss McIntyre is from Alpine, Texas. She is wearing a crown, a long gown, and holding a baton. Miss McFarland and Miss Hord, both of Marfa, Texas, are wearing long dresses with puffed sleeves. Behind the throne is an arched trellis decorated with vines. Spectators gather on the street in front of a coffee shop and a hotel. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, October 8, 1940.
