Cowgirls waiting for the opening parade at the 1940 Coleman, Texas, rodeo were, left to right, Margaret Owens, of Ozona, Texas, Mrs. Sam Windham, of Byrds, Texas, and Mrs. Deaman Burns, of Owens, Texas. They are sitting on a ledge, all wearing long-sleeve collared shirts, trousers and cowboy hats, and have bandannas tied around their necks.
