Description

At the Floydada Rodeo Joe M'Collum of Lockney, Texas was the master of ceremonies at the pioneer celebration. He is seen placing a crown designating "Queen Mother of the Plains" on the head of Mrs. Arthur B. Duncan, who moved to Floyd County June 1, 57 years ago. Mr. M'Collum has just placed the crown onto Mrs. Duncan's head. He's wearing a dark suit. Mrs. Duncan, an elderly lady, is seated looking down. She's wearing a dress and necklace. Her hands are folded over her purse which sits in her lap. There are are group of spectators behind them watching the event. Star-Telegram Morning Edition June 3, 1940
