Carter is carrying his granddaughter, Shelia B, Johnson, as his children, Ruth Carter and Amon Carter, Jr., stand beside him. Ruth (Mrs. J. Lee Johnson, III) is Sheila's mother. The group is standing in front of the bust statue. Carter, Sr. and Junior are wearing suits and Ruth is wearing a polka dot blouse with a beaded necklace and a skirt. Sheila is wearing a dress.
