Description
Vern Stephens is a nineteen year old shortstop with the San Antonio Missions, a minor league affiliate of the St. Louis Browns. Stephens isn't the typical light-hitting shortstop. While he's only hitting at a.264 clip, he has 80 runs batted in, seventeen homeruns, and twenty-five doubles. Stephens is standing behind the bleachers at LaGrave Field. He is wearing the Missions' road uniform. Stephens later went on to play for the St. Louis Browns and the Boston Red Sox where he was elected to eight All-Star games.
