Description

Bluebonnet Belle, a baby hippopotamus, is the biggest attraction at the Forest Park Zoo, Fort Worth, Texas. She is pictured here along with her visitors. She turned out in her pool so that spectators lined three-deep along the sidewalk could watch her cavort in the water. Zookeeper Hamilton Hittson estimated that about 10,00 to 12,000 persons visited the zoo during the afternoon. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, March 23, 1947.
