Description
Abigail, the sulphur-crested cockatoo at Forest Park Zoo is one of those spinsters the Board of Park Commissioners were thinking of when it authorized the Star-Telegram to go ahead and raise a $4,000 Ark Fund to augment the zoo population. She is a haughty, but rather lovable show-off, who is entitled to preen her feathers. They are just about the costliest feathers in the whole zoo. Abigail, herself, cost $125 when she was purchased four years ago. A mate for her is going to cost somewhat more. Abigail the cockatoo is shown in her cage at the Forest Park Zoo. Published in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram Morning Edition March 05, 1947.
