Description
Richard Harrell is an eighteen year old freshman at Texas Christian University (T. C. U.). He has been named city chess champion at the close of the ten-week tournament. Harrell won six out of six games with a score of 26 under the Sonneborn point system. He started playing chess in 1942 as a junior in high school. After a lesson from a friend, Harrell learned the rest from the Encyclopedia Britannica. Harrell is the official tournament director of the Fort Worth Chess Club. He is shown playing chess, dressed in a suit.
