Description
Katie Beth Hunter and David Vandervoort are local heroes after rescuing two companions from a farm lake. The incident occurred Saturday night when the children were in a rowboat with Jack Ledbetter and Mary Ledbetter. Jack, eleven, jumped up and down in the boat, causing it to capsize. All four children were spilled into the chilly water. Mary, thirteen, immediately sank to the bottom. David, twelve, dived under the water and pulled the unconscious girl to the shore. Meanwhile Katie Beth, also twelve, helped drag Jack to safety before running for help. The Ledbetter children suffered only a minor cold from the incident. Katie Beth is wearing a dress with a lace collar. David is dressed in a button-up shirt and trousers.
