Description

Newton Gaines is a physics professor and head of the physics department at Texas Christian University (T. C. U.). His favorite activity during his downtime is strumming a guitar and singing old-time cowboy songs. In 1940 Professor Gaines recorded 30 Texas folk songs for the collection made by John A. Lomax for the Library of Congress. Professor Gaines would like to see the old songs revived and made familiar to Texans and folks everywhere. He is shown sitting on a pile of chopped wood, dressed in cowboy regalia.
