Description
Texas National Guard maneuvers in Louisiana. Most anything handy is made to serve as a writing desk when the soldier want to write a letter home. Sometimes it's a board or a box balanced on the writer's knee. In this case it is the flat surface of an army trunk. The two intent on their writing are First Sergeant Lyle White (left) and Sergeant Onie Carroll, both of Company B, One Hundred and Forty-second Infantry. Both men are seen writing on top of a chest with the number 13 painted just below the lock. There is a metal cup next to Sergeant White's elbow.
