    Description

    Pictured here is Joe D. Banning, one of two youths charged with robbing a bank of $4527.90 in Carlisle, Iowa last Saturday. The nineteen year old suspect was arrested by a squad of Fort Worth, Texas city detectives and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents. The officers were alerted when by a telegram addressed to Banning's mother and an airmailed package containing $2,110. Law enforcement watched the train station for forty-eight hours after learning the suspect was coming to Fort Worth. Each suspect is being charged with armed bank robbery under the federal statute, which carries a maximum penalty of twenty-five years. Mr. Banning is sitting in an office, dressed in a collared shirt, blazer, and trousers. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, November 27, 1946.
