    Description

Gold Star president tells mothers of war dead to stabilize homes. American mothers whose sons died in war must devote their energies to bringing stabilization to those homes where war-inflicted losses have occurred, Mrs. Walter H. Boyd, national president of the American Gold Star Mothers said here Wednesday. Mrs. Boyd, who lost two sons in World War II, stopped in Fort Worth while en route to her home in Long Beach, California, after attending the organization's executive board meeting at its Washington headquarters. Boyd said the Gold Star Mothers are stressing the need for a close study of housing, divorce and juvenile delinquency. She said lack of housing has a great deal to do with divorce because each young wife should have a roof over her head where she can establish a home. She asserted well-established homes are a prime necessity for checking the spread of juvenile delinquency. Concerning the return of the war dead, Mrs. Boyd voiced a warning against blindly accepting proposals for such services. She said definitely pay no one any money to bring back the bodies of sons. If it is possible for the government to identify the remains, the parents will be notified and if they wish their son to be returned to this country, the government will do so and will pay all expenses to those boy's hometown. Or , if the parents prefer, the body will be buried in a military cemetery in this country. Mrs. Walter H. Boyd, national president of American Gold Star Mothers is shown wearing a dark colored dress and hat with a corsage on her dress.
