    Description

A three alarm fire destroyed a warehouse, damaged two residences, and threatened an oil storage company. The blaze began at 10:20 p.m. and took the firemen over two hours to extinguish. The Market Produce Company and the E. L. White Company occupied the warehouse where the fire began. According to Fire Chief Coy C. Killian, their estimated loss was around $5,000. Three firemen are standing around the side of the warehouse. They are spraying a water hose into the smoke filled building. The sheet metal outside the building is bending from the flames. Flames engulfed the roof and the intense blaze can be seen through the window. Two more firemen are standing at the front of the warehouse talking to a civilian. The fire was discovered by Richard Applewhite, night manager of the Joyce Oil Company, which escaped damage. There were 32,000 gallons of oil and 24,000 gallons of kerosene stored in their building.
